Yard Clean Up

July 2011

We'd gotten a bit behind on our gardening duties. Here Darlene is trying to clean the house before the maids arrive.

The before and after pictures don't look all that different here. The flowers have stopped blooming.

Hey look!! There's a wall in that mass of vegetation.

We figured out that we weren't going to get to the yard very soon, heck, just looking at it wiped me out. We called American Green Landscapes to come clean it up for us.

The area under the willow tree had eroded to the point that the tree root was exposed across the lawn here. They filled it in with new soil and reseeded. The fresh grass shoots are coming out here.

The herb garden from below.

Of course it looks better with the wild rose bush blooming -- that's basically the only difference here.

The grass on the right here had completely engulfed a couple of blueberry plants here. Not sure where it came from but it's a pain to pull up.

Once again the blooming rose makes the after picture look nice here. They hardly did anything on this side either.

The spruce in the front yard was getting a bit out of hand. It and the rhodies in front of the bay window look a little bit nicer now.

As does the weeping cherry tree.

I'm not sure they did anything with the light -- edged it a bit. Darlene can have something to play with here.

The shrubbery has a nice clean top now. I wanted it chopped down to the level of the light on the garage there, though.

The two shrubs on either end of the garage really should be the same height. Since the roof is different on either end it doesn't look all that bad this way but the shrub on the right ends up blocking the light.

The lower area in back was (is always) in the worst need of care.

The volunteer fennel was doing quite well before the landscaper guys got to it.

The scotch broom that the neighbor had planted managed to spread its progeny around quite well.

This is from the balcony looking down at the jungle we had.
