Our Trip to Disney World

April 18th, 2008

We get to the airport nice and early.

Our hotel is the Port Orleans, French Quarter Resort. Our building is here on Rue D'Baga.

Oh lovely, our room looks out over the kiddie pool. Fortunately the noise is not as bad as one would suspect.

The hotel dining place is decorated for Mardi Gras.

Ethel cleans the tables there. She is a very colorful Disney character. She's from Tennesee and her pappy taught her to fight mean so she can take care of herself.

Saturday, April 19th

Saturday morning we head to Disney's Hollywood Studios.

On the Streets of America one way looks toward New York...

While another direction looks toward San Francisco.

But everyone's heading that-a-way.

At the Monsters Inc show we've got the Human Relations and Inhuman Relations departments.

Herbie's on the backlot tour.

Along with the left...

and the right halves.

One of the mock-up planes used in Pearl Harbor.

One of the cages from Pirates of the Caribbean.

The plane from Con-Air.

Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Oh cool, it's the Power Rangers!!

And Donald.

And Goofy and Pluto.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror looms in the distance.

The pre-show for Beauty and the Beast was Four for a Dollar.

An abbreviated Beauty and Beast.

The Raiders of the Lost Ark stunt show. This is Harrison's stunt double.

Sunday, April 20th.

We figure Epcot should have the lowest weekend turnout. Could be that everyone else figured the same thing.

Floating flower pots full of impatiens.

Lunch in Germany at the Biergarten.

A local resident.

Monday, April 20th

Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Lots of exotic flowers.

And birds.

The "Tree of Life" in the background is made of cement.

A kiddie roller coaster in Dino-land makes one dizzy.

The roller coaster inside "Mount Everest" is the newest attraction. It spends half the time rolling backwards.

The Kimono dragons are sleepy during the day.

As are the bats.

And the kitty cats.

The birds put on a show for us. Here is a baby condor named Elvis.

The sick animals recover here.

Darlene comforts a rhino.

On the "safari" we find some pelicans with the hippos.

And some Nile crocodiles.

Some bovines with very large horns.

Thomson's gazelles.

And a heffalump.

If this guy's neck wasn't so long he wouldn't have to bend down so far.

A white rhino.

A couple lions.

An osterich.

This guy was blocking the road which delayed our safari.

There are lots of birds in the aviary.

As well as some fish.

And this guy who looked like a huge tadpole.

These fish are in the hippo tank.

But they just rang the dinner bell and these vegetarians aren't interested in the fish.

One meerkat always keeps watch.

While the others roam around.

This native bunny wandered into the meerkat display.

After they saw him, we didn't see the bunny anymore, but we did see a tuft of his fur in one of the meerkats' mouth. They're apparently very agressive carnivores.

There are several gorillas on site, making up two "tribes".

And bears and orangutans.

Another view of Mount Everest in the distance.

Tuesday, April 21st

We take a break and head to Downtown Disney to do some shopping. These insurance salesmen waited for the riverboat with us.

We found Legoland at Downtown Disney.

A family of four with their dogs, all made out of Legos.

Wednesday, April 22nd.

Disney's Magic Kingdom. Cinderella's castle here is much larger than Snow White's castle at Disneyland.

Tomorrowland looks about the same, though.

Keep your hands and feet inside the car at all times.

Darlene gets the thrill of her life. Yee haw!!

Ride's over.

Something goes wrong with the Space Mountain roller coaster so they have to turn on the lights to fix it.

A rare sight of the coaster track with the lights on. Wouldn't be nearly as much fun that way.

We missed the tea cups the last time we were here.

Getting ready...

Wheee!!

The little kids have lots of fun on this ride.

Hey!! There's a snake in my boot.

Jiminy Crickets. Time to go, they closed the park early tonight for "Mickey's Pirates and Princesses Party".

Thursday, April 23rd

Back at the Magic Kingdom, we pick up where we left off -- the Haunted House.

And the Hall of Presidents.

The newest clown gave a speech.

Using our park hopper ticket, we then head back to Hollywood Studios to find a parade starting up.

After we see the sights, we have dinner at the Primetime Cafe. They try to be like home in the 50's. Gotta keep your elbows off the table and sit up straight.

Aunt Ellen was our waitress. The waitress at the table behind us had to help the lady there finish her dinner. "Here comes the airplane -- vrooom." We finished our meals on our own, though, and got our "Official member of the clean plate club" stickers!!

After dinner we caught "Fantasmic".

Friday, April 24th Last day. We head back to Epcot to catch the things we missed. Here's Japan where the beat goes on.

And China where we find Mulan's dragon, Mushu.
